After many years of hard work HDD have secured a ground breaking result in the High Court of Justice Queens Bench Division Planning Court where following a hearing on 3rd February 2016 the challenge by West Berkshire Council was quashed. HDD are now looking forward to progressing the next stage of development.
HDD have recently been selected by the Local Authority to deliver a food retail led scheme including a discount food store and upgrading of public realm to help regenerate the Town Centre.
The Lidl store totals 26,473 sq ft GIA with a sales floor area of 15,328 sq ft. In addition, there will be 127 car parking spaces which will be made available for the customers using the facilities of Radcliffe Town Centre.
The store will be one of the first generation stores in the North West which incorporates a fully glazed elevation to the entrance. The new development will also add to the recently completed bus station and the newly refurbished Market Hall facility.
HDD have been selected as the preferred developer by Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council to regenerate the Ryecroft area of the Town Centre.
The HDD proposals include circa 60,000 sq ft of retail and leisure, a 475 bed student scheme and a new public square.
HDD are acting as Development Managers for U+I in the delivery of the Friarsgate scheme in Lichfield.
A planning application was submitted in December 2015.
The long-awaited mixed-use scheme will create a major new destination in the city centre, complementing the existing retail, leisure and residential offering whilst preserving the historical and traditional feel of the city.
A truly mixed-use scheme, Friarsgate is forecast to create the equivalent to 600 full time jobs, and will inject £283m in Gross Value Added (GVA) over the next ten years into the local economy. The leisure offering includes a state of the art multi-screen cinema, a new gym, up to ten new restaurants and approximately 25 shops. It will provide 82 apartments, 11 town houses and a brand new landscaped public area for visitors to enjoy. The development will also enhance transport connectivity within Lichfield, delivering a new bus station for the city near to the railway station, as well as 500 safe and accessible car parking spaces.
