HDD have been selected as the preferred developer by Newcastle under Lyme Borough Council and Staffordshire County Council to regenerate the Ryecroft area of the Town Centre. The HDD proposals include c.66,000 sq ft of retail and leisure, a c.500 bed student scheme and a new public square.
Lying in the northern quadrant of Newcastle under Lyme’s town centre fronting Ryecroft Road on Newcastle’s inner ring road, the c.4.3 acre (1.74 hectare) site presents a major retail led development in one of the best performing towns in the North Staffordshire conurbation.
The Ryecroft Site is the town centre’s principal retail opportunity and is the only major redevelopment opportunity earmarked within the Primary Shopping Area.
Newcastle is highly accessible due to its close proximity to both Junction 15 and 16 of the M6 motorway. The A34 trunk road runs directly from the A500 through the town centre from north to south and links to Ryecroft Road on the north of the town centre.
The residential catchment population for the scheme for a 5 minute drive time is 40,258 and within a 10 minute drive time is 135,750.
